Line Editing
Line editing is a line-by-line review of the manuscript at the sentence and paragraph level. I will address issues with sentence structure, pacing, word usage, consistency of tone, and logical flow of the writing to optimize readability. While I may make some revisions to spelling, grammar, and punctuation during line editing, my line editing service is not a full copy edit. For editing that focuses more on those technical aspects of writing, please see the copyediting and proofreading service options.
Rate: $0.03 per word
Copyediting
Copyediting is more granular than line editing and should occur after beta reading, developmental editing, and line editing. I will review your manuscript for errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and syntax. This service also focuses on ensuring consistency of story details. In addition to the marked-up version of your manuscript, I will provide a style sheet. The style sheet will outline any stylistic decisions (spelling, formatting, etc.) and key details about characters and places to ensure those details are kept consistent throughout the individual story and any future additions to a series.
Rate: $0.02 per word
Proofreading
Proofreading is a final check for manuscripts that have already gone through editing. I will check your manuscript for any lingering errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling, as well as as any duplicated, incorrect, or omitted words.
Rate: $0.009 per word
Before booking, I will provide a complimentary sample edit of up to 1,500 words to see if we’re a good fit. If you would like to request a sample edit, please submit an Inquiry Form on my website. Once I’ve received your Inquiry Form, I’ll respond via email to confirm my availability before you send your manuscript for the sample edit.
If you decide you would like to work together, I will send a contract for your signature. Fifty percent (50%) of the project total will be due at the time the contract is signed. Acceptance of the contract and the 50% deposit will reserve your spot on my calendar. The remaining balance will be due upon completion of the project and must be paid before I return the edited manuscript to you.
